It is not just that web pages as we know them will not exist, it is that all the ways we currently use to consume information, learn, entertain ourselves, work and create content will have changed drastically to levels that are difficult to conceive today.
But I'm going to try. I'm going to use my 🔮 and give you some pretty bizarre predictions.
After all, we humans have always prided ourselves on our creativity and our ability to extrapolate.
We are the only beings capable of it...
Right yes? Isn't that right???
I will not insult your intelligence: you have there inside your skull the most complex system that we currently know in the universe.
You've used your brain and you know I'm talking about AIs. After all, I haven't talked about anything else for months.
But at the same time, admit it: there's nothing magical about your brain, it's just the more complex system we know today, which is no small feat.
But there is no physical impediment in our reality/universe for other equally or more complex systems to arise/exist.
What's more, for Prometheus to have been able to offer us fire as has happened in 2022, it has not been necessary to reach that level of complexity, or even come close.
We thought that AGIs (Artificial general intelligences) would be necessary to automate creative/intellectual processes and that therefore something like drawing, understanding text, reasoning or even writing would not be something we would see until many years in the future...
But no, it's already here. In a rudimentary way but improving at a dizzying speed. And without the need for AGIs.
2022 has been like a huge plug in a dam breaking and water starting to gush out.
What happened?
You know it, do not you?
In 2022, disruptive AIs have emerged in generative image (Dalle2/MidJourney/StableDiffusion) and conversational chats (ChatGPT) and have turned our understanding of what creativity is upside down.
And the icing on the cake has been Bing Chat (a ChatGPT with the ability to search the Internet) with an extraordinary ability to reason, write code, answer all kinds of questions and write texts. Is almost and "AGI that is neither self-aware nor does it need to be to reason."
Am I using Bing Chat to write this post? Have I generated this troll image with MidJourney?
Or on the contrary: can you believe that all the images in the post except this one have been generated in less than 20 minutes with MidJourney?
Think about it.
All these AIs, surprisingly, have started automating tasks that involve CREATIVITY.
So am I saying that AIs are creative? In fact, I don't care about that debate. It bores me, I don't care what we call it.
What I'm saying is that in the past, whenever technology had improved a job by automating it, it had always been mechanical in nature: jobs that were repetitive or involved expensive physical labor.
It is the first time in the history of humanity that human beings have created automations that directly affect creative work and reasoning. And this is not just anything. This is something of tremendous importance. It is the genesis of a change.
Anyway, enough spinning around. I sound like ChatGPT and its rants. Let's get to the point!
Verbose_mode=OFF.
My predictions:
In 20 years there will be no websites. We will interact directly with much more complete AI systems than ChatGPT (MUCH MORE) that will offer us all the information, education, entertainment, work tools and everything we need.
Why do you need to go to a website when you can ask anything you want and receive an accurate answer instantly?
Google has been trying for some time with its summaries after the searches that have caused many websites to start receiving less traffic.
And now, with Bing... wow!
Why would you need to go to an e-commerce to buy a t-shirt if an AI will know even before you do that you need it, it will offer you different options according to your tastes and it will allow you to buy it WITHOUT LEAVING its interface?
Why would you need to search a video game catalog if at the stroke of a request an AI could generate a video game with an entire universe according to your tastes and that your colleagues can visit and play together? Generated frame by frame, in real time with AI!
Why would you need to visit a movie catalog if just saying something like "A Harry Potter movie but gore" will generate a movie instantly, with imaginary actors at a higher resolution that can capture your eyes?
Why are you going to spend hours and hours working on excels, designing, illustrating, creating BI projections of your company, developing apps and the rest of the jobs that today involve software if an AI will deliver it to you with a few simple requests?
Why go looking for a specific book on Amazon if you can generate a 400-page novel tailored to your tastes at the click of a button?
And all this thinking in a VERY LITTLE lateral way.
Biased by our current way of thinking.
Will the concept of film/novel/work/creation/song/etc. makes sense as we understand them today after the irruption of AI?
I mean, why watch a movie in a passive way if you can turn it into a game at any time? Why read a novel that you just generated when you can go into video game mode and talk to the characters or become one of them? 🤯
A child born today will work 20 years from now in a radically different way than we do.
I insist: RADICALLY different.
Many jobs, as we know them, are going to disappear and/or change like wildfire.
The professions that endure the longest over time may paradoxically end up being those that involve physical work far from software (as long as robotics is still in its "infants").
In fact, taking another leap even further, in 50 years, automatically generating value through AI and robotics could be so brutal that humans don't even need to work.
What would then be the currency of exchange?
Wall-E already predicted it
Anyway...
Changes are coming. Very big transformations.
Buckle up ladies and gentlemen, turbulence is coming!
Today's AIs must be treated for what they are: something incredibly amazing that is still in its infancy.
They are prodigy babies who keep pooping in their diapers but at the same time are capable of solving differential equations 😂
And when they grow up... well, it will be something to watch.
And you? What do you think?
Did you enjoyed?
I hope so! If you want to encourage me to write more things like this one, a RT to the first tweet in this thread is greatly appreciated 🙏👇, thank you!
